Papatowai Challenge, Athletics Day & Swimming Sports...

Papatowai Challenge

On Saturday 27th February the annual Papatowai Challenge was held. This is a scenic 15.5km walk or run that includes the beach, bush and gravel road.

Four of our students; Amelia Morrison, Jade Gutsell, Yui Nakajima and Braydee Osborne volunteered to help with this year's event. They assisted with registrations, prizes, finish line and being the 'tail end charlies' running behind all the competitors. A huge thank you to them, they were a credit to The Catlins Area School and I know that they are keen to participate next year.

A huge congratulations to our Head Girl, Lauren Grant and her sister Natalie for competing and finishing this year's event. The Papatowai Challenge 2022 would be a great event for students to participate in while representing The Catlins Area School, start your training now!

Athletics Day

Despite the cooler conditions and some scattered showers we successfully got through another Athletics Day at The Catlins Area School. Thank you to all the staff who helped run events and also to the parents who gave a helping hand where it was needed throughout the day.

The results from our TCAS athletics day had sixteen students selected to attend South Otago Primary Schools Athletics in Balclutha on Monday 8th March, although this is dependant on COVID-19 Alert Levels.

Our TCAS students competed with determination and tenacity, each and everyone giving 100%. Well done to everyone who took part!

TCAS Swimming Sports - POSTPONED

Due to the uncertainty of when COVID-19 Alert Levels will be changed and a number of other factors, a decision has been made early to postpone the TCAS Swimming Sports.

This year's event will now take place on Friday 19th March.  Details regarding start times on the day and other information will be posted on Facebook and in future newsletters.
