Visiting our local cultural amenities

Room 1 had the chance last week to visit our amazing cultural amenities in Owaka.

Room 1 visited the Owaka Library and the Museum on Monday.  They listened to stories read by Steph the librarian, and found out where all the interesting books are kept!  They then had a quick look around the museum helped by Mike McPhee and Mrs Grant.

Room 1 loved looking at the settlers' cottage, were amazed to learn that Owaka used to have a train and a train station, were intrigued by the stone tools used by Maori before the arrival of European settlers and by the display of moa bones.  Thank you to The Owaka Library and to the Owaka Museum for hosting us and sharing their facilities and knowledge.
