Welcome/Farewell, Back to School & Netball

Welcome and Farewells

Term 2 welcomes Mrs Sarah Cairns to the PE department who takes over from Mrs Wilkinson and is continuing with Health and PE classes on Fridays for Year 8-13 students, and Guidance Counselling on Wednesdays. Mrs Cairns can be contacted by email - [email protected]

While COVID 19 brought an abrupt end to Mrs Wilkinson's time in the PE department here at The Catlins Area School and she wasn’t able to say her goodbyes to her PE/Health classes, we are sure she won't be a stranger at TCAS and have no doubt you will be seeing her around the South Otago sports fields. Thank you Fiona, for everything you have given to TCAS, the students and the Sports Department.

Return to PE Classes - Post COVID-19

Term 2 Sport and PE classes will be considerably different. We know how eager people are to get back into ‘normal’ sport and activity, so are we, but we are adhering to the regulations and guidelines provided to us.

There will be NO physical contact games, activities or sport in Physical Education classes and during break times until the next announcement on 25th May is made.

Physical activity is so important for our well-being and we want our students to keep active. We have decided to run our cross country earlier than usual this year with Wednesday 1st July the date to add to your calendar, and depending on the guideline at the time may be run differently compared to previous years.

In Physical Education classes all year levels will be training for this event. Please remember to bring your running shoes to school.

The SOPSA cross country is pencilled in for Week 5, Term 3. We are aware of this and if your child wants to attend this event there will be training in Term 3 to prepare them.

If you have questions please get in touch.
