PCT Challenge

PCT Challenge

On Friday, November 8th a group of prospective police officers travelled to Balclutha to participate in the annual PCT (Police Competency Test) Challenge.

Students from around the region gather at the Cross recreational Centre to compete in teams of four taking on the same physical challenge as recruiting police officers. The course involved tasks such as a 200m run, tyre-carrying, trailer-pushing, jumping over mats and climbing over an 8-foot wall & through a window. A particularly gruelling exercise had the children carry or drag an 85kg weight a distance of 20m, to simulate saving an injured person.

Congratulations to all the participants, but particular recognition should go to The Catlins Titans (Jade Gutsell, Olivia Hartvigsen, Cooper Cleland & Taufatoa Tyrell) who placed 4th out of the 18 trophy teams.
