Action, agility and adrenaline from athletes at SOPSSA Athletics.

Nineteen students qualified in athletic events for SOPSSA this year, which is one of our best number of qualifiers yet.

Nineteen students represented TCAS at the SOPSSA Athletics Championship (South Otago Primary School Sports Association) held at South Otago High School on Wednesday.

We were represented in every event, 60m, 100m, 200m, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus. TCAS had an outstanding day on the track and field and achieved seven top placings; congratulations to the following athletes:

Brooklyn Landreth  - | 1st | Girls 10 years 100m (15.82 seconds)

Indie Parkes - | 2nd | Girls 10 years High Jump (1.10 meters)

Lillian Tyrell - | 1st= | Girls 10 years Shot Put (6.75 meters)

Lola Povey - | 3rd | Girls 10 years Shot Put (6.50 meters)

Laniah Shute - | 1st | Girls 12 years 100m (14.70 seconds), | 1st | Girls 12 years 200m (31.91 seconds)

Cooper Landreth  - | 2nd | Boys 12 years Long Jump (3.57 meters)


Congratulations to Brooklyn, Laniah, Indie, Cooper and Lillian who have also qualified for Southland athletics on Sunday 24th March in Invercargill. Thank you to the whānau who helped with transport and those who came and supported all our athletes. Thanks also to our student helpers Isla Berney and Hollie Harrex who helped our fabulous teachers Alyssa McDougall and Taylor Bichan.
