Camping in Naseby, where trails and thrills collide!

Camping in Naseby, where trails and thrills collide!

On Monday the 20th of November we headed off to our Naseby camp, and we had a blast! The Year 7 and 8 class spent four days biking, fishing, curling, luging, paddling in the dam, exploring the tracks and participating in flying-fox challenges at the Naseby domain.

A favourite in our class was the luging. It was a bit of a walk up the hill to get to the top, however once we were at the top, it was TERRIFIC!!!!!! For the luge, we would sit in a metal trolley, and go down a metal slide type of thing, gathering up speed. The top speed was around 40 kms if you didn’t use your brakes.

The Naseby weather was AMAZING, around 20 degrees each day. There were a lot of hot and sweaty kids by the end of the day, but we had amazing showers that were nice and refreshing.

We also had the opportunity to cook dinner, make dessert and clean the kitchen. Each night, we took turns cooking dinner, resulting in lots of tasty food on our plates. We had a variety of different meals, nachos, burgers and burritos. After a long day of biking, we had refreshing food to snack on, such as home baking, fruit, a glass of juice etc.

We were all looking forward to heading home by the last day, however we pushed on and biked 13 kms of the Otago Central Rail Trail. Over the whole camp, we biked for many hours, on many different tracks. Flat tracks, downhill tracks, bumpy downhill tracks, up hills and through forests.

The facilities at the Naseby Holiday Park were lovely and clean. We would rate our stay at the Naseby Holiday Park a 9/10. The trampoline was a favourite for some kids!

Overall, we all LOVED our time in Naseby. The teachers and parent helpers were so fun and we are all very grateful for them putting up with us and driving us to and from. Thank you to all the adults that came with us to Naseby, and a big thank you to Mrs Bichan, Mrs Wilkinson and Miss Currall for organizing such a great camp, we all enjoyed it soooooo much!
