Cultivating care and compassion

Cultivating care and compassion

A Heartwarming school assembly centered on our core value of Tenacity.

This term sees a focus on our new School Vision: 'Connect, Learn, Grow', as well as the TCAS Way. In the first two weeks of term TENACITY was a focus. TENACITY- We are resilient, resourceful, and determined.

When research was completed on what it was that made some people more successful than others, a surprising thing was discovered. It wasn’t intelligence or being able to learn things quickly that determined how successful someone was. Researchers looked at students in school, soldiers in the army, sales people in various companies, teachers in schools and many other different people in jobs and one thing was common in those that were successful. It was a something that the researchers called 'grit' and what we know as TENACITY. Those that were the most successful were those that were resilient, resourceful, and determined. It was those that turned up to where they needed to be on time and ready to do what was required of them. It was those that learnt from their mistakes, and those that saw feedback as an opportunity to learn rather than an excuse to give up. I would encourage you all to continue to focus on TENACITY as the year progresses so that you can be a successful student.

The next two weeks sees a focus on the value of CARE - We have respect for ourselves and the diversity of everyone and everything around us. As we all think of ways to show CARE over the next two weeks I would encourage you to consider how we can ensure that we show respect when we are caring for ourselves, others and everything around us.
