The junior school have Lèqù (fun) learning mandarin!

Every Wednesday TCAS is fortunate to have Mya Wu visit and teach our primary students about Mandarin language and culture.

Mya Wu is currently studying for her Masters Degree in linguistics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.

Mya is teaching Mandarin at schools in the Catlins area for the whole year. Without fail, she comes every Wednesday and teaches five classes in total.  Every class runs for half an hour, and includes language basics, informative videos and crafts. Each lesson is targeted for the age group taking part.

So far students have been taught some basic greetings, sentences to introduce themselves and family members, some animals, and also some Chinese cultural activities. This Thursday was the Dragon Boat Festival in China so students made the "zongzi tumbler" in class together to celebrate.

Thank you Mya for sharing your knowledge and passion with our students.
