Term 4 has seen the introduction to the calendar of Swimming Sports. As part of the P.E training, ākonga have been heading to the pool twice a week to learn technique and refine strokes with Mrs Wilkinson and parent help.

Friday started with the juniors swimming widths, kangaroo jumping, egg and spoon races and holding a starfish position much to the delight of the crowd of supporters. Rolling lunch provided a sausage sizzle and coffee cart as the outside of the pool turned into a hot, sunny hub for conversation. Year 5 to 10 raced after lunch with students swimming 25m of both freestyle and backstroke. The races then increased in length and introduced butterfly and breaststroke.

The famous house relay took a twist with the addition of the teachers swimming. This was the definite highlight to finish the day on if the crowd's roaring was anything to go by. Manuka has taken bragging rights, Nora second, Teachers third and Surat in fourth.
