Planting Day

Letters have been sent home with students from Years 5-10 regarding proposed planting days (weather permitting). The content of the letter is repeated below:

On Wednesday the 26th of September (Year 5-8) and Thursday 27th September (Year 9-10) students are invited to participate in a Service Value Day at Long Point. We will be planting for The Yellow-Eyed Penguin Trust to enhance the penguin habitat.

On the day, we will leave school at 9.30am, returning before 3pm. Students will need to wear appropriate clothing for being outside at an exposed coastal spot for the day. There are no facilities to heat food, or for conventional toilets - please be prepared! There will be three staff members and representatives from The Yellow-Eyed Penguin Trust and DoC available on the day to train and support students.

Students should aim to bring gardening gloves, their own spade/shovel, and gumboots. If you do not have any of the items, please let your child's teacher know by using their logbook. The school will seek out items for students who do not have their own. Equally, if you have extra gloves, spades or gumboots that you are willing to lend out, please let us know.

Neither school uniform nor electronic devices are required on the day.

If you wish to withdraw your child from this opportunity for any reason, please call the office on (03) 415 8036.
